1959 Furuholmen presently undergoing partial restoration of the hull and
cabin at the Dolvik boatyard. The naval architect R.G. Furuholmen is a legend
in (maritime) Skandinavia and constructed his first motorboat at the age
of 19 in 1906. He travelled to America in his twenties and worked for different
companies like Steinway piano's and the designer company Thams, Lemoine
& Crane of New York. Later he returned to Norway and started at the
Maritim yard. He left a large heritage with mostly variations and improvements
on traditional hull designs. Many Furuholmens roam the waters of Skandiavia
today. |
